The Latest Trend in Upskilling, and Why You Need to be Involved...

The thought of learning new skills, for many of us, conjures up an image of having to commit to a fixed timetable, in a fixed location. But SkillSeeder has brought a new way of learning into the mix, that makes upskilling more accessible and compatible with modern day life.

SkillSeeder is a platform where you can search for all sorts of courses run by various different training providers. It also helps you find training that is eligible for funding. BUT, there's more!

SkillSeeder is also a place for the amateur expert. A place for those who want to use their talents to make a difference. You don't have to be an accredited training provider to list a course. You can just be a hobbiest who is pretty darn good at something. Whether you are a master at spreadsheets, a talented musician, an expert gardener, an epic cook, an accomplished joiner... whatever you are good at, you can earn extra income, whilst making a difference in your community. Share your skills. Help others. We've developed SkillSeeder because we know there are barriers that people have with learning. Some folk don't have the time, others don't have the confidence or support network nearby. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to upskill, so we've taken steps to address this.

We have a saying - 'For every skill someone needs to learn, somebody in their community already has it'. If you need to learn how to do something, it's more likely than not, that there's someone nearby who could teach you.

With work, life, family and financial commitments, it can be tricky to learn. Sometimes we just need to brush up on a skill for a new job, or to tackle a DIY project at home. In a modern world a flexible approach to upskilling is needed, and what better place to learn the skills you need than from someone nearby?

What's great about SkillSeeder is that you can choose whether you want to run a course online or in-person. You could run a video call, a class in your village hall, community centre or at a local park - simply choose where works best for you.

How does it work? If you want to become a skill sharer, we've made it simple. Just download the FREE SkillSeeder app from Google Play or the App Store. Create a profile, and pop in a few details about the skill you'd like to share, the location where you'll be running your course/class or workshop, and the price you'd like to charge to those attending. It'll then be submitted to our team who will verify it. Within an hour or two your listing will be published on SkillSeeder.

'SkillSeeder is what eBay is to selling goods, and what airbnb is to accommodation. It's a marketplace for skills!'

What's more, we're funded by the Scottish Government, which means there's no hidden fees. Non whatsoever. It's free to use. If you feel inspired, why not try listing a course today. We've create this step by step guide to help you get started.

If you're a skill seeker, simply visit the SkillSeeder website and type in the skill you'd like to learn into the course finder box. Our clever algorithm will create a list of results of all the relevant courses, local to you. There's currently over 4,500 courses currently listed, with additional courses added daily.

The world has changed, and the way we learn has to. There's never been a better time to upskill.
